2.2.1 Objectives
- Characterize the difference between the vertebral regions: Cervical, Thoracic, Lumbar, Sacral, Coccygeal.
- Differentiate between superficial, intermediate and deep muscle compartments by there nerve innervation.
- Be able to palpate spinous and transverse processes on the cadaver.
- Contrast the function of the erector spinae and transversospinalis muscles.
- Describe the occipital triangle and its components.
- Understand the relationships between a spinal roots, rami and nerves and how they contribute to a dermatome.
- Contrast peripheral versus central nervous systems; somatic versus autonomic; sympathetic versus parasympathetic efferent systems.
- Describe the meminges.
